Refurbished Apple iPad - A look back at some of the year's best Disney iPhone and iPad apps for kids - buyEtail.com

So what are you going to do with those iTunes gift cards you got in your Christmas stocking this past week?

If you have some young Disney fans with iOS devices, there were a lot of fun Disney apps for kids released this year. And they will continue to entertain for the rest of the winter break from school and longer into 2014, so now's the perfect time to download a few for the young Disney fans on your sync list.

Here’s a look at some.

Just this month, Disney Publishing released a fun iOS app that will help youngsters draw objects from the world of Mickey Mouse. “Mickey Mash-Up” lets kids follow along with Disney’s main mouse in an adventure across the map. Along the journey, kids will see actual clips from the short “No Service!” (you’ve probably seen it on
Disney Channel), listen to a narration by Mickey Mouse and even create a gallery of their drawings.

The app is for kids ages 6 to 8 and is for
iPhoneiPadand iPod touch users. It costs $1.99.

Also released earlier this month was the “Doc McStuffins: Moving with Doc” iPad app that emphasizes healthy living and seems perfect for the new year when so many adults are focused on healthy lifestyles anew. Using the app, kids can use their iPad camera to stretch with Doc. They also can keep track of healthy habits and get lots of tips for
healthy eating and beneficial activities.

The app is designed for kids ages 5 and younger and costs $2.99.

Here’s a fun one for the little fashionistas. “Minnie Fashion Tour!” allows users to customize outfits, accessories and bows for Minnie, Daisy and their friends. Kids can even use their device cameras to create original patterns; they can earn rewards throughout the use of the app; and kids even can stage a fashion show with lights and music.

Based on the Disney Junior animated series “Minnie’s Bow Toons,” the app sells for $4.99 for both iPhone and iPad versions.

Also this year, Disney Publishing released a host of
"Monsters University" iPhone and iPad apps that allowed users to have some laughs with Mike Wazowski, James P. Sullivan and their monster friends in Monstropolis in conjunction with the "Monsters, Inc."prequel.

One, "Monsters University Storybook Deluxe," features animated enhancements, interactive artwork, video clips from the film and characters' voices from the flick, as well.

As a feature-rich storybook app, “Monsters University Storybook Deluxe” allows users several options for learning the story of how Wazowski and Sullivan first met in their college days long before the familiar plot of Disney
Pixar’s 2001 film release, “Monsters, Inc.” Users can read on their own or listen to the narrative as it is read to them.

It's designed for kids ages 6 to 10 and is available for $1.99 for iPads and iPhones at the iTunes app store. There also are other “Monsters University”-related iOS apps there, too.

Another app highlights beauty over laughs. The Disney iPad app "La Luna: The Story Project" offers a behind-the-scenes look at how the Disney-Pixar short film was created. By exploring various art processes from storyboard to final animation, the app delves deeply into the world of the Academy Award-nominated film "La Luna."

The app lets users interact with the film’s creation through video, storyboards and turntables. It also features a digital picture book with original artwork from the film’s director, as well as visual artwork used to create the 3D world within the story. You even can use the app to watch the film in its entirety just as it was shown on the big screen.

The Disney Publishing app is available at Apple’s App Store and sells for $1.99.

And just this month, Apple named the "Disney Animated" as its iPad app of the year. The app, which isn’t just for kids, allows iPad users to view a wealth of never-before-seen concept art, visual effects and other imagery from animators, storytellers and others at Walt Disney Animation Studios. The app covers productions of all 53 Disney animated feature films beginning with "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" in 1937 to an exclusive in-depth look at the most-recent Disney release, "Frozen."

It costs $9.99 and is perfect for Disney fans of most all ages.
