As the NFL pre-season gets started, check out the official
iPhone/iPad apps and iTunes content.
As the NFL pre-season kicks off, the league has begun
reminding fans about the various online programming and mobile apps that it offers.
While we still have a month before the season starts, August is the time to
check in with how your favorite teams are shaping up for the new season. It’s
also the time to begin researching your fantasy football draft options – if you
haven’t already.
For the preseason and fantasy prep time, the NFL is offering
a mobile apps – many of which will be familiar to fans with iPhones and
iPads. We’ll be taking a look at the various official and third-party fantasy
tools for Mac and iOS users as the pre-season rolls on, but here’s a quick look
at the official options from the NFL.
NFL Mobile – First up is the official app for Verizon
iPhone/iPad customers. This app provides
you with the latest news during the preseason (and regular season) and includes
video, blogs, commentary, resources, draft results, interactive features, and
it makes it easy to follow your favorite teams.
NFL ’12 – This app is
for all iPhone and iPad users. It provides team news and information,
schedules, and access to NFL podcasts.
NFL.com Fantasy Football
2012 – This app lets
you manage a fantasy team in a league created on NFL.com.
Like other fantasy apps, it offers live scoring, the ability to view and change
your game day lineup, lets you make fantasy transactions (drop, add, and trade
players), and provides player information in real-time. Like other fantasy
apps, it supports managing multiple teams in different leagues.
Additionally, there is a range iTunes
content available including game highlights from last season organized
by team and several Super Bowl recaps.
The NFL has also announced a partnership with
Google for the 2012 fantasy season in which leagues hosted by NFL.com can participate in Google+ hangout
during their online fantasy draft.
