Paper
by 53 (Free, in-app purchases)
While other drawing and painting apps take on many of the
features of full desktop art suites, Paper by Fifty Three tries to preserve a
more analog feel of pen on paper. The free version comes with a basic fountain
pen tool and color palette, without any funky settings to get between you and
drawing and sketching. The ink engine is incredibly slick and responsive,
providing a very natural feel to drawing on a touch screen. Other tools, such
as a pencil, watercolor mode and a custom color mixer are available as in-app
purchases.
Swiftkey (Free)
With iOS 8 finally enabling the use of third-party
keyboards, a number of alternatives keyboards have quickly popped up in the App
Store. Of these, the best is definitely SwiftKey, which features a powerful
predictive engine that quickly picks up on your typing quirks, making
autocorrects and autocomplete both accurate and reliable, as well as a slick
gesture typing system. Additionally, SwiftKey Cloud allows users to link their
social media and mail accounts to SwiftKey, letting the app quickly learn your
typing quirks, as well as syncing SwiftKey's predictive typing data across
devices and platforms.
